Sta. Cruz Mixtepec

Santa Cruz Mixtepec: Hill of clouds is found located in the middle of two riverlets, one descends from the cave of Nerela of San Miguel Mixtepec and the other from the river of the Sabinos descending from the mountains.

Folklore says that the Sabinos are so old that they keep many mysteries. The Sabino river is a great ally for curing ills as when someone has sadness or melancholy.

As part of home cures, the people would go to the river and choose a Sabino, and at the foot of the Sabino throw flowers into the current of the water so that their maladies would be carried away and the Sabino became a guardian angel of the patient.

The growths that are formed in the roots become like families integrated into the landscape and the locals have adopted them as part of their families.
